Happy Hips Yoga: Tune Into Your Natural Rhythm

​

Join this welcoming Hatha yoga class designed for women to help you feel more at ease—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Inspired by the changing seasons, both inside and out, this class offers a chance to connect with your body’s natural rhythms through gentle yet empowering movement.

​

Each week, we’ll focus on releasing tight hips, creating space for more freedom and flow in your life. Happy Hips gives you a weekly chance to tune into yourself, helping you become more aware of how your energy naturally ebbs and flows.

​

You don’t need to have a menstrual cycle or know which phase you’re in to benefit from this practice. It’s open to anyone who resonates with a cyclical rhythm, regardless of gender or anatomy. 

​

This class is ideal for those embracing the idea of honouring their body's cyclical nature, or who simply want to move, stretch, and feel good.

​

Props and variations will be offered to suit your unique body, so you can challenge yourself or move more gently, depending on how you're feeling that day. Yoga is a beautiful way to embrace the present moment, helping you find peace in both your strength and vulnerability.

​If you were born or socialised as female, then you most likely learnt to repress shame about your body and your menstrual cycle. Your hips may have become the storehouse for physical and emotional tension. The psoas muscles (the muscles connecting your legs to your spine) are the first responders when your sympathetic nervous system is activated, more commonly known as fight or flight.

 

These muscles do their job by contracting - getting you ready for action! This is our survival mode, a necessary response for when we are in danger. But most of the time we are not actually facing something life threatening, rather, it's the pace and demands of modern life keeping us in a chronic state of stress. The result of this? The mind perceives danger. What the mind thinks, the body feels.

 

What was once a wild animal, is now an overflowing inbox, bills to be paid and the relentless management of day to day tasks and responsibilities. So over time, all that stress is remembered by our body. Chronic (on-going) contraction can mean that the hip muscles hold on to physical and emotional stress. 

​

We live in a society that glorifies production and 'doing' and ignores the value of rest or slowing down. To maintain a balanced and functioning nervous system, we need both to exist. My intention for Happy Hips is to help you restore balance to your being, by giving you space each week to tune in and connect with the parts of you that often get overlooked in all the busy 'doing.'

​

The hips are home to the sacral chakra, our energetic centre of creativity, pleasure and emotion. It's also home to the female reproductive system! Tension or tightness in this area may signal repressed emotions, such as fear, guilt or shame, which is no surprise in a culture that does not normalise talking about female health and well being. Like periods and PMS. I am passionate about educating people about the menstrual cycle, because within this cyclical experience a whole world of knowledge, power and transformation can be found. It's all about awareness.

 

Creating space in the body through movement allows our emotions to flow rather than becoming stuck or stagnant. This also frees up space in our minds, so we can take a different perspective about our bodies and our lives.

We will work closely together to create a practice that aligns with your needs, whether it's improving flexibility, building strength, or finding inner peace. Unlike my happy hips yoga class, this offering is not limited to those who are seeking to develop a deeper connection with their menstrual cycle.

Investment begins at £45 for 1 hour (plus travel expenses).
